Court-Ordered Liquidation of Kerner Optical, LLC
Prior to filing for bankruptcy, Kerner Optical was a practical visual effects company based in San Rafael, California. The company was formerly a division of George Lucas’s Industrial Light & Magic and was spun off in 2006. Kerner Optical provided visual effects services for major movie productions such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Evan Almighty, Transformers, Iron Man, and one of the Harry Potter films.
West Auctions conducted a court-ordered liquidation of the company’s personal property assets by hosting two separate online auctions, one for each building occupied by the company.
This auction was comprised of a 23,000 square foot shop which was home to a laser cutting room, machine shop, metal shop, mold shop, assembly area, paint area, offices and more. In addition to 30,000 plus square foot building where the stages were set and the stage equipment was stored, along with the camera engineering room and production offices.
